About
Who We Are
Africa’s Children, the integrated child care ministry of Assemblies of God World Missions – Africa, was formed in 1989 as an aggressive and compassionate response to the plight of Africa’s millions of children under the age of fifteen. The formation of Africa’s Children was timely. The emergence of the unbelievable tragedy of HIV/AIDS in Africa was growing rapidly in 1989. The clear impact upon children becomes more evident with each passing day.
Since its inception, Africa’s Children has strived to maintain the term “integrated child care ministry” as a reality, not just a slogan. Our purpose is to minister to the entire spectrum of need facing the children of Africa: spiritual first of all, then educational, nutritional, medical, etc.
Africa’s Children believes in compassion for compassion’s sake. Christ’s exemplary life of compassion is our model: a cup of cool water, clothing for the naked, food for the hungry, a loving touch, and most of all a genuine, personal, and active concern for the individual child.
What We Do
Hands are very important in Africa. Technology and industry are limited to certain urban areas. For the most part manual labor – using one’s hands – is the common method for getting anything done…from making cloth, to tilling the ground, to building a home. Yes, hands are very important. Community bonds are so strong across Africa that usually many hands are linked to lighten the load and make the impossible possible!
From its inception Africa’s Children has endeavored to provide the helping hands needed. Through many generous hands linked together, we have been able to impact the lives of children throughout the nations of Africa. Those generous, helping hands have made it possible for Africa’s Children to:
